Wrestling team continues its run going undefeated at Koda Classic

Northfield posts another dominant outing at Koda Classic in Farmington

Saturday the wrestling team took a trip to Farmington for the annual Koda Classic duals. Northfield wrestled four matches going undefeated for the day. Along with the perfect team record, Owen Murphy won his 100 career varsity match.

First up for the Raiders was Two Rivers High School. Caley Graber, Charlie Johnson, Sam Harner, Zane Engels, Colin Staab and Noah Ackerman all picked up falls and six team points for Northfield. Caden Staab and Owen Murphy won 12-3 and 12-2 picking up major decisions which are worth four team points each. Ryan Kuyper scored six team points as well with a forfeit. The first dual of the day was a dominant start for the Raiders who posted a 50-21 final score.

Northfields next opponent for the day was the home team, Farmington. Not much changed to start off the second dual with Caley Graber, Charlie Johnson and Caden Staab winning by fall. Colin Staab, Ryan Kuyper and Noah Ackerman also picked up falls before the four minute mark in their matches. Owen Murphy won by forfeit. At 145 pounds, Zane Engels won the only match to go all six minutes with a 7-1 decision. After Noah Ackerman’s pin at heavyweight, the team score read 45-29 in favor of the Raiders.

Northfield’s third opponent of the day was St. Francis. Caley Graber started off things right with a major decision over Ashton Charmoli at 107 pounds. Caden Staab had a very close match against Clayton Charmoli resulting in a 1-0 victory at 133 pounds. Zane Engels defeated Kenny Ferrario 8-2 at 145 pounds. Drew Pribyl, Sam Harner, Colin Staab, Owen Murphy, Ryan Kuyper, and Noah Ackerman all received forfeits. The final score of the match was 46-19 in Northfield’s favor.

The final match of the day was Northfield versus Lakeville North. Caley Graber started off things strong with a fall in under a minute over Max Flen at 107 pounds. Charlie Johnson, Caden Staab, Sam Harner, Zane Engels, Colin Staab and Noah Ackerman all won by fall. Drew Pribyl won by a decision over Hayden Roy 8-1 at 114 pounds. Northfield won the dual 45-25.
